I have been experiencing a lot of signal inconsistency’s causing the "digital blocks" on different channels usually about the same time of day. A repair tech came out to look and told my wife "with these newer 4k tv’s plugged in via HDMI to the X1 box it is probably frying the box and I needed to purchase a surge protector with coax and run the cable through it". This doesn't make any sense to me at all. If the connection from my tv to the box is HDMI what would running the wall coax connection through the surge protector do except cause move signal loss back to the box? Everything im reading is the exact opposite of my issue. Is the cable repair tech correct or not?
